But I am Christian…

We live in a time where people are suffering from server cases of selfishness, with a mindset that everything is all about them. People claim to be “self-made” and live life carefree because after all they can only do it once. But how many of us know what life really is?

When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. Colossians 3:4 KJV

Christ is our life according to the Word of God. But we have come to this false conclusion that it is ours. The Strong’s Concordance put it this way when looking for the meaning of the word life. This life is not merely a principle of power and mobility, however, for it has moral associations which are inseparable from it: holiness and righteousness. And we all know that God is holy and righteous, you can not separate that from Him.

And the kicker to this whole thing is that there are more and more “Christians” that believe they can do whatever they please and still refer to themselves as children of God. I hate to break the news to you that you are not. Repeating a prayer does not make you a child of God. It doesn’t secure your spot in heaven all because you recited the sinners prayer. Being a child of God is more than a title.

For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother. Matthew 12:50 KJV

We were told in Matthew 7:21-23 that there will be people to call on the Lord’s name and He will turn them away.

And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you: depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ Matthew 7:23 NKJV

We as believers are to truly be set apart from the people of this world. We are chosen to be a light

for those living in darkness. But I guarantee, if you play with darkness long enough your light will start to dim and you will be blending in like the rest. And how will people know that you’re a Christian?? I mean you talk like the world, act like the world, always hang around those in the world. Oh I know, it’s the cross around your neck, or the Sunday visits you make at church. Yeah that tells me NOTHING!

Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them. Matthew 7:17-20 NKJV

I know by now some of you are stating the same cliche lines, “God’s not through with me yet” or “I’m a work in progress.” As we all are, but how far are you progressing by staying in the same place? Staying around the same people? Doing the same things that you were prior to being saved? You are just using the same tired lines that continuously keep people stuck and confined to a false relationship with God.

You are hindering yourself and not experiencing the fullness of God by entangling yourself in the world. And you are confusing those that are lost in the world by giving them a false reality of what Christianity and a true relationship with God is. You are stifling their progress because you keep telling them about your new grace and new mercy. Which allows you to act however you feel because you get a fresh start in the morning. STOP LYING! You are lying to yourself and to them.

Enter by the narrow gate: for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Matthew 7:13-14 NKJV

So as you title yourself a Christian and cupid shuffle down that wide gate you are bringing new FALSE converts with you and continuing to lead them a stray. Because for some strange reason you believed that you could stay exactly the same and be a child of God. A true encounter with the Lord will make you want to change your ways. And although it may not happen over night, a change does come.

Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgement you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. Matthew 7:1-2 NKJV

I looked into the word of God to explain to me what a child of God should look like, act like, and be. I want my brothers and sisters to hold me accountable for the things that I do. Because I am striving daily to live a life pleasing to Christ. Not pleasing to my flesh or to the fleshly and selfish desires of those around.

It is constantly becoming the norm to have worldly standards with a Christian name tag and that is not what God intended. Nor did He intend for people to merge His standards with those of this world. You cannot do that and still claim that it is of God.

Am I saying to just dismiss everyone that is not saved, of course NOT! But what I am saying is

that when you make the pledge to take up that cross and follow Christ. Some people will not like it, some will not want anything to do with you. Some people will just find reasons to bother you. But all of those people are watching you and some that are watching you are counting on you to show them something. Show them that through God’s grace and mercy anyone can be saved and become a new creation in Christ.

So please be mindful of the people that you surround yourself with. Compare yourself to the Bible’s standards and not those that are around you. Ask for God’s guidance and help where you may fall short. And do not hold your tongue when you see that your brother or sister may be falling into the ways of the world, SPEAK UP! Help them to see the error in their ways and push them closer to the Lord for the help they need.

I love you all, but God loves you so much more

Love

Jessie J xoxo

  1. YES, YEEEEEES! And folks get the whole unconditional (Agape) love of God twisted too. It's unconditional in terms of who can receive it…not in terms of us continuing to live in sin despite calling ourselves Christians.#SorryIAmNotSorry #ImaTruthSeeker #Amen
