His faithfulness…

follow-Christ-bannerThere are many of us that declare without a shadow of a doubt that we have faith in God. We proudly strut around proclaiming this faith. But as our lips form the words our lives sometimes sing a different song.

Faith described by dictionary.com is the trust in God and in His promises as made through Christ and the Scriptures by which humans are justified or saved. The plain form of that definition is confidence or trust in a person or thing. We as Christians are familiar with some of the verses in Scripture that reference faith.

Hebrews 11:1 NKJV- Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Ephesians 2:8 NKJV- For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.

Hebrews 12:2 NKJV- looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Romans 10:17 NKJV- So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

This is just the beginning of the Scriptures that give reference to faith. There are many more (google them and check them out when you can). But for this post I want to focus on the faithfulness of the God we serve.

1 Thessalonians 5:24 NKJV- He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.

We sometimes get caught up in all the things that we feel we need to do for God’s stamp of approval and never really think about what He is doing. At times we don’t even consult Him, we just assume that it’s what He would want us to do.

Now we are often given many verses that tell us about the faith that we should posses in Christ and the faith that leads to the good works that we do as disciples of Christ. But it is not often that the faithfulness of our God is expressed.

Faithful by definition means true to one’s word, promises, vows, etc.; reliable, trusted, or believed. Now images (2)lets dig into 1 Thessalonians 5:24.

The first part that strikes us the the fact that it says, “He who calls you.” Many times we believe that we have searched and found God. When in actuality He has always been there just waiting for us to take heed to the call He already had on our life. I mean He is the giver of life and He is the one who formed us in our mothers womb. So believe me when I say that He is a gentleman and won’t force Himself on us, instead He will wait for us to acknowledge and come to Him. However, He already placed a call of some sort on your life.

And for everyone reading pay close attention to what I am about to say; God has a call on your life! You may not know right now what that call is, but know that He has placed you here for reasons that are beyond the scope of your knowledge right now. The Word tells us that our ways and thoughts are not those of God so we can not fathom what He has in store (Isaiah 55:8 NKJV). So again, He calls you.

Next, the Scripture reads, “is faithful.” Now some of us already know that faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains (Matthew 17:20 NKJV) and that faith without works is dead (James 2:17 AMP). But how many of us actualize the fact that God Himself is faithful. He is  true to His word and promises.

And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ, developing and perfecting and bringing it to full completion. Philippians 1:6 AMP

So just as we have to have faith and believe in Christ for all that He has done. We equally have to have faith that He has things that He is working on in us currently. He is actively working on our behalf. And just as Christ came to fulfill the Old Testament prophecy, He is faithful to complete the work that has been started in us. There is a job that was set aside for you, before you were born to bring glory and honor to God while here on earth.

Lastly, the Scripture reads, “who will also do it.” Now it may come as a surprise because some people believe that they have to do all these things to get where God wants them to be. I was that person! But ummmm no! Scripture clearly instructs us on the things that we need to do, but God is the one that is handling the bulk of the work.

We need to realize that nothing we do apart from God will last (John 15:5 NKJV). We have to trust Him in every area of our lives. I mean I was struggling so hard with this topic. I was believing God for certain things, when He wants me to have faith in Him for everything! We can not pick and choose what we desire to give to Him, it’s an all or nothing type of deal with Him. So beloved please be encouraged and see that God wants whats best for you. God is working on your behalf. God is faithful and reliable. God is the one who called you!

1528704_10200391876319316_821711407_nPray earnestly and seek God about your purpose. And if He has already revealed it, do not rush it and do not delay. Follow His instructions carefully and trust that even when things get rocky or aren’t looking great that He is still there! He is faithful.

For the human body apart from the spirit is lifeless, so faith apart from works of obedience is also dead. James 2:26 AMP

I love you all but God loves you so much more.

Jessie xoxo
