Fat Sheep

Are you sitting in church every Sunday getting all you can out of the preached sermon? Do you attend Bible study to increase your understanding of the Word? Do you listen to sermons on Christian talk radio? Or even watch YouTube videos to help you gain insight and make you think? Do you have quiet time with God and allow Him to speak to you in those precious moments?

If you do those things you are hungry for God. I mean in my opinion, going through all of that means that you desire to have a closeness to God. You desire to understand His Word and you desire to grow and mature. But there is one thing that I don’t have up there. It is sharing the Gospel.
You can sit in church and eat up everything that is being taught, but if you are not following that Great Commission (Matthew 28:19,20) then what good is it really? If you are not taking what you heard and speaking it to others, how will we ever carry out the instructions given to us by Christ himself?

Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen Matthew 28:19-20

Fat Christian: A person of the Christian religion that is hungry for God, desiring knowledge but not willing to share it with anyone. Not even for the saving of the lost souls.

The following things are reasons that I believe people do not share the Gospel.

I have no theological background….

The above line is a poor excuse for not spreading the gospel to others. Jesus did not attend a 4 year theology school in order to become “equipped” to preach the Word of God. So tell me why you have to? We serve a God that can do more than our human minds can even begin to imagine. So what did you think all that Bible study, intimate time with God, and sound doctrine preaching is for? Not for you to get fat soaking it up, but so that you can remain a fit and healthy Christian sharing the Word.

I am not a good speaker…

Join the list of others that doubted their ability when it came to speaking the Word of God.

And Moses said unto the Lord, “O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.” So the Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the Lord? Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.” Exodus 4:10-12

See God already knows the areas in which we are weak. But we aren’t going out living and speaking His Word with our own strength. We are using strength that we know comes strictly from God himself. We know that we are weak human beings with nothing concrete to stand firmly on. So we stand firmly on the Word of God and draw our strength from Him alone.

What if they don’t like what I am saying…

Some are afraid that people will not approve of them speaking the Gospel. They may call you names like super holy, overly saved, Jesus freak, or any other name. But why is that of your concern? Why are we so dependent on what others have to say when we have already gotten our words approved. I mean we are only preaching to the people, the Word of God. He has already put His stamp on it so why are we awaiting mans approval?

I mean if someone put a stack of money in front of some people and said God told me to tell you to grab that money. Some would sprint at the chance to have it. And you’re getting that information from another person, God didn’t tell you that personally. Yet you leap at the chance to go after something that God didn’t tell you about. But He told you to go out and teach all nations and you’re sitting around just being a fat Christian.
Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Matthew 5:11,12

I have to travel the world to spread the Gospel…

Ummmmmm no you don’t! There are people next door to you that may not know the good news about Jesus Christ. There are people on your job, in your local markets, in your immediate family that may not know the good news about Jesus. I was convicted about being this person. I wanted to spread the Gospel to the World, when those closest to me where dying before my very eyes. So now I do not reserve expressing my love for God to only my Christian friends. No sir not Jess. I tell it to anyone who is listening. Start with the ones that are the closest to you and let the Lord lead you elsewhere.

I just want to know why are we waiting? Why are we waiting until tomorrow to spread the Gospel? Why are we waiting until tomorrow to get our lives right? Why are we waiting on our pastor to go out to the community? Why are we waiting?
I listened to a sermon and said this very statement;

“We have to stop waiting for somebody else to do what we have been commissioned to do.”(Cornelius Lindsey: The Gathering Oasis)

If you have a moment, watch this video by my sisters in Christ Brittany Jay and Kendraa Jackson. It definitely convicted me.

I love you all, but God loves you so much more.

Jessie xoxo

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen
Ephesians 3:20,21
